Happiness is not about how much difference the world makes to us...
It is about how much difference we make to the world.
Our inspiration: βIt is nobler to make the underprivileged productive and self-reliant rather than to give them some occasional aid and freebies. Progress can be sustained by imparting quality education. An educational institution is a beacon of hope and promise of a better tomorrow.β
In the year 1999, a group of affluent women, between 50 β 65 years of age, came together to form the Archana Educational Trust, to facilitate education to the adivasi children of rural Shahapur, a taluka in Thane district. Thus Ratanbai S. Damani School was established. It was inaugurated in the presence of several industrialists and philanthropists on March 11, 2012. Spread over 4 acres at Chaitraban Compound near Shahapur, the school is constructed with spacious and well-ventilated classrooms and a computer lab from Grade I onwards.
The school commenced its operations on June 3, 2012 under the direction of Smt. Severine Kunnath M.A., B.Ed, with 22 students and 2 staff members. At the end of one year, the school acquired 240 students and 8 staff members. Currently the school is from Play group to Grade II. Our immediate plan is to become a Higher Secondary School under the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi Board.
Apart from regular classes, various extra curricular activities are conducted to give our students an all-round education and tap into their full potential. These include sports and celebrations of key festivals. Competitions in art & craft, speech & rhyme, recitation and creative writing are part of the program. Regular parent-teacher interaction monitors the progress of the children.
With the continuous support of our well wishers, the school is progressing successfully, thus realizing the vision and aspirations of its founders.
